Tong Kee Brothers Confectionery- Egg Tart, Pastry and Cakes

Tong Kee Brothers Confectionery (棠记兄弟饼家) is one of the ever famous bakery shop around Malaysia, which is also my favourite shop when it comes to choosing egg tarts. Whether it's breakfast, tea or supper, the foodstuff simply suits my liking well!

  #1 Crispy Egg Tart @ RM 1.30

The first thing that I'd surely grab is the famous crispy-skinned egg tarts. Speaking of this undisputed king of egg tart, I think there's nobody else to beat the smoothness of the egg custard here! I used to love this for tea time or even breakfast.

#2 Siew Bao @ RM 1.60

I don't know if it's the branch I visit or the new recipe of siew bao, because recently each siew bao I bought has become smaller in size as compared to last time. The sad truth is that the skin is not as crispy but the price keeps hiking.

#3 Egg Yolk with Yam @ RM 5.80 each

More familiarly known as "Ham Dan Sou", the salted egg yolk lies inside the layers of crispy yam skin. Being high in cholesterol, I don't mind giving it a go for once in a while.

#4 Lao Po Bing (Wife's Biscuit) @ 2.80

Another famous traditional Chinese pastry includes this flaky, thin-skinned biscuit, filled with winter melon and almond paste, and topped with generous amount of sesame. It gives a total different taste when served hot, or you can always chill it before consuming so that it turns out to be a yummy cold dessert.

When there are plenty of savoury pastries during tea time, what'd be more perfect than enjoying them with a bowl of Gingko Barley Dessert with Bean Curd Skin and Quail Eggs? One of my Mama's specialty homemade Chinese dessert soup satisfies me to the maximum!

#5 Yam Cake @ RM29

Tong Kee is a good place to hop by during special occasions and celebrations because they offer a huge variety of cakes at affordable price. So far I have tried more than 10 of their cakes, and none is disappointing.

Have a pleasant day and pick your favourite dessert today! :)
