Comida. A restaurant that can only be described as the place that would be perfect to be your home away from home. Recently I was back for this cozy Italian/Mexican nook again; do check out my previous post if you hadn't do so.
The house specialty is the Giant Pizza with a diameter of 24 inches.
Started by former Fly FM DJ Basil Joseph in 2010, Comida is great for a lazy Sunday afternoon with ample parking space nearby.
Here good food comes with admirable arts as you can gaze at the artsy paintings
in the restaurant or you may choose to dine al fresco.
#1 Cream of Pumpkin @ RM9
The warm broth of roasted pumpkin, onions and potatoes was slowly simmered to perfection. So creamy yet the consistency was just nice, not overly thick for my liking.
#2 Nachos @ RM16
My favourite snack here would be the tortilla chips! Topped with melted cheddar cheese and Comida's special spicy chilli con, the crispiness was addictive, leaving me reaching for more!
#3 Seafood Especiale Pizza 12" @ RM36.90
Seafood pizza was never my thing because of its light flavour despite of the rich combination of prawns, calamari, clams and oregano, mozarella, homemade pizza sauce and olive oil.
#4 BBQ Chicken Pizza 12" @ RM28.90
Crusty on the edges, the succulent chicken with BBQ sauce was delighting with little touches of tangy sweetness from the homemade pizza sauce and olive oil. Mozzarella and onions were nice additions.
#5 Margherita Pizza 12" @ RM24.90
This was good for cheese fans, with thick, melt-in-the-mouth mozzarella topping sprinkled with Italian herbs.
#6 Pesto Rocket Chicken Pizza 12" @ RM32.90
This tender slices of chicken served atop a bed of rocket leaves with onions was finished off perfectly with a subtle homemade pesto sauce and olive oil. It was a very simple pizza, but the quality of ingredients was superb.
#7 Peppershrooms Pizza 12" @ RM31.90
The topping was different for each slice, including beef pepperoni, peppers, mushrooms, onions and black olives. I had a good time with my piece of olive pizza with melted cheese topping, so soft on the top and crusty at the bottom.
#8 Smoked Salmon Pasta @ RM27
As tempting as the pizzas from the wood fired oven might have been, we opted a plate of spaghetti but it was not as fulfilling. If the sauce is creamier without overcooking the salmon, it could be a winning taste.
#9 Comida Lamb Combo @ RM32
A duo of grilled lamb shoulder and lamb rack tasted as good as it looked, especially when paired with mint sauce and mushy mash of potatoes.
#10 Hot Fudge Brownies @ RM9
When it was time for desserts, temptation took over and I succumbed to the warm chocolate brownie served with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. Epitome of sinful sweetness, it was an absolute perfection!
Verdict:
1. Speaking from a personal point of view, I enjoy the small 6" pizza better than the giant 24" which is overly stuffed and it gets cold quite quickly.
2. The hot fudge brownie is better than the desserts during my first visit.
3. Pricewise, it is above average for a decent wood fired pizza, but still acceptable considering its location.
