Fusion Haven @ Sri Petaling

Back to the old neighbourhood I used to live at, Fusion Haven (無國界天地) is one of the most-visited restaurants among my family and friends. I used to dine here a lot during early high school years, and 7 years later I'm now back to savor the fusion cuisine of American, Italian, German, Korean, Japanese, Chinese and more.

The interior has changed into a modern, minimalist design. Nothing fancy, but the coziness and warmth brought by the concept itself draws me into the restaurant and stay as long as I wish. During my visit on an early evening, the restaurant was empty but stuffy due to the poor ventilation. But that did not bother us because we were more excited with the varieties of good food there.

STARTER
#1 Fusion Mango Insalata @ RM13.90

First to tease our palates was a fresh combination of lettuce, apple tartare, mango, pumpkin seeds and raisins served in a crispy cup. The beautiful presentation and great taste raised my expectation for the next dishes.

JAPANESE NOODLE
#2 Char Siew Sapporo Miso Ramen @ RM19.90

Whenever I pay a visit during rainy evening, a hot bowl of ramen is in my must-order list. Nothing could be more satisfying than having the pork brisket slow-cooked in Japanese-style along with the aromatic boiled egg and fresh Japanese noodle in miso soup. However, the miso soup was rather bland during my current visit.

If you're into Japanese sushi, don't forget to order some sushi platter injected with Western flair.

DONBURI / RICE
#3 Korean Style Kimchi Sausage Omelette Rice @ RM8.90

If you are a fan of Korean kimchi, then this is something you should not miss. Crowned with generous amount of ebiko (prawn eggs), the pan-fried omelette with pork sausage and kimchi already filled almost half of the bowl. The remaining was the rice seasoned with loads of teriyaki sauce, crispy seaweed and sesame. Considering the price and portion size, I had no complaints at all!

WESTERN CUISINE
#4 Fusion Tower @ RM23.90

Western delights such as beef and lamb rack were also common here, but we went for some seafood instead. The fusion 'tower' was built with 2 thick pieces of pan-fried fish fillet layered with lettuce, turkey breast and creamy mustard sauce. Interestingly, nobody would have thought the base layer (thickest among all) was actually a calzone filled with onigiri rice! Kudos to the lovely presentation, and the fish tasted fresh and crispy to my liking.

This all-in-one platter was indeed a great comfort food.

ITALIAN PIZZA
#5 Hawaiian Turkey Ham and Banana @ RM25.90

True indeed, Fusion Haven has almost all types of cuisine housed under one roof! The Italian pizza featured its house specialty dough, and topped with marinara sauce, mozzarella, turkey ham, banana and cheddar cheese. Not only that, it has many choices of pasta on the menu too.

The chef was rather generous upon his application of cheese, as every mouthful was filled with strong cheesy flavour. Luckily the sweetness of banana managed to balance up the overall taste. Nonetheless, this is highly recommended for cheesy lovers!

GERMAN DELIGHT
 #6 Grilled Sausage Platter

To my disappointment, this looked more like a westernized duplicate of German sausage platter. Instead of having German Sauerkraut and bratwurst, the platter consisted of some Taiwanese sausages, complemented with fresh garden salad and fries. Nevertheless, it was a great snack to pair with beers.

There were alot more dishes on the menu, which I have yet to try despite of numerous visits in the restaurant. If you're seeking for something unique at affordable price, Fusion Haven is probably the best place in Sri Petaling to satisfy your cravings.

Verdict:
1. The price is well-matched with the quality and portion size we get.
2. Reason to revisit: Great variety of cuisines that don't bore me over the years!
3. Recommended: Fusion Mango Insalata,  Korean Style Kimchi Sausage Omelette Rice
