A professional hair and nail saloon cum cafe is a rare scene in Malaysia, but I manage to find one in Malacca town. Taking a mere 10 minutes drive from Jonker Street, we arrive at De Reve Saloon Cafe.
Located at the outer lot of the relatively new shoplot, De Reve converted half of its outlet into an al fresco cafe that can only fit 4-5 tables. Nevertheless, it is a popular spot among youngsters who are craving for tea break.
The menu here is quite decent as it offers a wide varieties of savouries from wholemeal toast to homemade pizza, as well as desserts and coffee. The fruity smoothies and lassi here are recommended too.
Nice place to chill with the breezy wind gushing at us.
Iced Lemon Tea @ RM4
Passion Fruit Lassi @ RM8
Love the lassi here because it is very thick and rich in yoghurt!
The level of sweetness is just right with a hint of tangy flavour from the passion fruit puree.
Dalmation Waffle @ RM12
Waffle is a popular item among diners, as recommended by the lady boss there. Comes in few other varieties-- Marshmallow, Oreo, Strawberry, Banana Caramel-- the waffle is very well-presented but taste wise it is disappointing.
Ain't the waffle pretty? Stuffed with dark chocolate chunks within the waffle, everything becomes perfect with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. Beyond the crispiness of the hot waffle, I find it a tad sweet for my liking.
Despite of the breezy winds, the place may get hot at times as the sun penetrates those translucent roofs. All in all, it is a nice attempt for De Reve to have a cafe for customers who are in mood for good food after their pampering sessions.
De Reve has no service tax and government charges for now.
I don't mind coming back to try out their hair and nail services if I happen to pass by this area next time.
