Mode Sathorn Hotel @ Bangkok, Thailand

I finally made a trip to Bangkok! Being the neighbouring city from home, Bangkok is only 2 hours flight away (Thank God my AirAsia flight took off and arrived on time!) yet I had not been there until recently...

Look, the hotel looks so beautiful at night with the purple and blue lights!

Despite of the never-ending list of budget hotels in Bangkok, I personally prefer something more decent, quiet and relaxing--- Mode Sathorn Hotel is exactly what I want. Being a “Fashionable Lifestyle” 4-star hotel, Mode Sathorn is conveniently located just outside BTS Surasak, 10 minutes away from the city centre.

Unlike any ordinary hotel, the check-in desk here is very casual and you can just sit on the comfy sofa or cool hanging chair while waiting for the check-in to be done. I appreciate their effort of making up the room earlier than the usual check-in time (2pm) for guests who arrive early. I managed to check in before 12 noon :)

Complementing the chic theme, even the hotel lift is extra stylish and modern!

Inside the hotel, there are 201 trendsetting Rooms and Suites in 5 categories--- Business Studio, Deluxe Mode, Executive Mode, Bedroom Suite and Presidential Suite. The Deluxe Mode and Executive Mode are subdivided according to themes--- Multi-Cultural Facet, Urban Stylish and Metropolitan Chic--- Each is luxuriously designed in its own unique character.

Deluxe Mode room - Metropolitan Chic

I had a great time staying in the Deluxe Mode room furbished in the Metropolitan Chic design. Having rested on the deliciously plushed bed had provided me good rests over the few nights. I was awakened in the morning by gentle shafts of sunlight entering the window screen and showering me with kisses on the bed.

Truly a relaxing place to take a good rest!

Done up in tones of grey and fushcia, the rooms are all spacious and come with a variety of amenities that not many hotels offer such as LED TV with Astro channels, rainshower, customizable light modes and speedy Wi-Fi.

The bathroom demands a special mention with full glass windows and a bath tub overlooking the city. If you're on honeymoon, this room is simply perfect as the room layout is rather transparent--- The toilet and bathroom are all surrounded by see-through glass walls.

Amazing night view of Bangkok skyline from my room!

It is fully equipped with mini fridge, tea-making facilities, wardrobe and even an umbrella for the rainy days!

Love the adjustable light modes from soft to bright to suit my everyday mood.
Style and comfort; I can have the best of both worlds in Mode Sathorn!

2nd type of Deluxe Mode room - Multi-Cultural Facet in Eastern style

3rd type of Deluxe Mode room - Urban Stylish

Since my room package came with complimentary daily breakfast, I lapped up the buffet breakfast (6.00am - 10.30am) at The Sathorn, the hotel's all-day dining restaurant, which includes a live cooking station and a theatre bar in it.

The dining area, a dimly-lit space beautifully adorned with vintage frames set the ambiance, almost instantaneously reducing my stress levels. The waitress was very friendly and offered me coffee upon being seated, well I could feel the cheerful morning vibes here! :)

Speaking of the varieties, it was pretty decent as you could find a variety of western offerings such as bacon, sausages, cereal and yoghurt as well as the local hot dishes including fried rice and Pad Thai (Thai fried kuey teow) alongside with a salad bar, assorted cheese table and fruit platter.

Among the cold cuts, I spotted something interesting--- Chicken ham with marinated chilli.
Have you ever tried spicy, sweet and savoury ham? This one tasted exotic and delicious!

Breads and pastries corner seemed to be the guests' favourite, so was mine. Freshly-baked loaf
and croissant paired with special homemade jams were simply perfect for breakfast.

Freshly squeezed juice such as guava, pineapple, mango and orange contained tiny bits of real fruit in the bottles. Don't forget to try on the local Pandan juice, simply refreshing and lovely for the morning!

Get your morning egg fix at The Sathorn!

The live cooking station serves hot soup noodle as well as eggs cooked to your style be it poached, fried or mixed with assorted ingredients into an omelette. The one I had above was the chef specialty egg, cheese and sausage breakfast crepe. It was so delicious that I ordered it for 3 consecutive mornings!

Location wise, Mode Sathorn is very convenient as I can easily hop onto the BTS train located just a stone throw away from the hotel. It is only one station away from the river cruise station (Saphan Taksin) and 3 stations away from the shopping haven, Siam Square.

Here are some interesting places in Bangkok and the respective distances from the hotel via BTS.
Alternatively, you can rent a car or sign up for day tour packages at the hotel concierge.

Stay tuned for my next post about rooftop sky dining at 38th floor, indulgent massage and spa
as well as swimming at the rooftop pool in Mode Sathorn Hotel!

Verdict:
1. The full-fledged 4-star hotel should get a 5-star rating instead! Stylish design, nice location, great food and top-notch service, what else could I ask for?
2. If  you ever stay at Mode Sathorn, be sure to stay indoors more often and enjoy the hotel facilities such as complimentary jacuzzi, infrared sauna, steam room, gym and pool for guests.
3. Highly recommended for young people, couples and business travellers.
4. Pricewise, the rate can go as low as RM200++ per night during promotion. What a great steal!
