Within the affluent Sri Hartamas neighbourhood, I'm glad to find a good coffee place that offers various hot food items and desserts at a very fair price. Podgy and The Banker sits perfectly at the corner of a suburban row of shoplots, just a few doors away from the famous My Elephant Thai restaurant.
Like many coffee joints, Podgy and The Banker practises a self-service ordering system--- just look at the menu displayed in chalk on the blackboard, make your order and pay before you can collect your food at the counter. The best thing is, save on the taxes, because prices displayed here are actually nett prices!
The ambiance here is warm, cosy and bright, with upscaled wooden furnishing. At the corner, I spot loads of desserts in the chiller which I then learn that they are from Lids and Finch in Damansara, Accidental Bakers and Fat Baby Ice Cream.
Speaking of the ambiance, yellow chairs and wooden tables kind of remind me about Ben's at Publika.
Arts and crafts are available here too.
Phresh Pressed Smoothie = Mango + Pineapple + Apple + Orange + Banana + Lime
An instant pick-me-up during such hot weather!
Matcha Latte @ RM9 // Cappucino @ RM10
Coffee drinkers will have a great time here enjoying each sip of the freshly brewed coffee, with carefully crafted coffee art on it. I love my smooth and creamy cup of hot green tea latte that adds slight bitter sweet taste to the velvety rich steamed milk and espresso. There goes one of my guilty pleasures!
Bruschetta, Chicken Ham and Eggs @ RM13
If you wake up hungry like a cow, just hop over and indulge in some decent breakfast dishes. The bruschetta is topped with a slice of chicken ham that is well coated with a sunny side-up. Simple yet filling, it's one of the crowd's favourite item.
French Toast with Nutella and Banana @ RM11
Whenever I'm craving for something sweet during late afternoon, soft French toast topped with banana and crushed nuts is my favourite. They're so light and melt perfectly in the mouth that I keep coming back for more.
I'm always a nut lover, and this piece of decadent cake has 3 of my favourite ingredients in it--- Walnut, pumpkin seed and cheese. Despite of the steep price, the cake is thick and very filling especially on the thick cream cheese part. Luscious!
Verdict:
1. Worth paying a visit for the simple and wholesome brunch menu.
2. Apart from my few favourite food, I find that the food and drinks menu is quite limited.
3. I like to have my breakfast at a tranquil and relaxing place, and the café is just where I want to spend some quality time at.
