Villa Danieli @ Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur

Located within the hustle and bustle of the city is the 5-star elegant Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel that takes pride in its award-winning Italian restaurant, Villa Danieli. Just by admiring the exterior of the restaurant, I'm curious what does this free-standing trattoria has got to offer.

Inside the outlet, you will enjoy the cool comforts of the modern interior decorated in warm tones of brown. Beautifully furnished with upscaled wooden furniture and velvety seatings, here I can enjoy upbeat music playing in background.

Helmed by Chef Kamaruddin, Villa Danieli is the right venue if you're seeking for a culinary journey around Italy as the originality of Italian cuisine can be savoured here. There we go for a hearty feasting--- Great food and fine wines can never go wrong.

 #1 House Specialty Bread (Complimentary)

Upon being seated, we're served with 3 different types of Italian bread-- Fresh bread, charcoal bread and bread stick served with sun-dried tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil dip. Among the breads, bread stick is my favourite and is the most easy going with the dip.

Zuppa (Soup)
#2 Crema di funghi selvatici al tartufo con Shimeji croccanti , mousse di ricotta @ RM38
(Wild mushroom soup truffle scented with crispy Shimeji mushrooms and ricotta cheese mousse)

As luscious and fluffy the house bread creations are, nothing compares to the utter bliss one feels when one tastes the soup for the first time. The wild mushroom soup is simply rich and creamy, and unique and goes very well with the charcoal bread.

Paste (Pasta)
#3 Rigatoni con ragout di manzo alla fiorentina, con basilco fresco e olio al pepoeroncino @ RM48
(Rigatoni pasta with spicy creamy Beef Ragout Florentine style, fresh basil and chili extra virgin olive oil)

Coated with creamy beef stew, the al dente pasta is a delightfully simple and wholesome meal with a price tag which is pretty decent for a hotel price. Lightly spiced, I find it perfectly balanced with sweet and spicy flavours.

#4Aglio Olio e Peperoncino @ RM35
(Aglio Olio with chili extra virgin olive oil)

...Classic aglio olio. A simple yet robustly flavoured dish garnished with chilli pepper and parsley,
it is the epitome of soul food for some- although others may find it a tad spicy.

Pizza
#5 Piemontese @ RM75
(Mascarpone Cheese, Toma Piemontese cheese, parmesan cheese
shavings, fresh Black Uncinato Truffle, white truffle oil)

If you are up for something different and adventurous, try the piemontese. As the name suggests, it is ahow  luxurious, extravagantly flavoured wood-fired oven pizza dotted with truffle slices and melting cheese. It is so exotic, with a hint of smouldering taste. Must try!

#6 Margharita
(Tomato sauce oven roasted with fresh basil and Buffalo Mozzarella)

Not a meat lover? Try this simple combination-- Fresh tomato sauce, chewy mozzarella cheese, a sprinkling of basil on a crispy crust. Having not overloading the pizza with toppings is in fact better, as I can taste the true flavour of the base with smoky edges. Sometimes, less is more :)

#7 Diavola
(Tomato sauce, fresh sliced roma tomato, chilli padi and spicy chicken sausages)

Here's another traditional pizza with classic topping that is the crowd's favourite during the evening. However, it could be a winning taste if the spicy level is toned slightly higher.

Verdict:
1. Freshly baked breads, wood-fired pizza and home-style pastas taste as good as they smell here.
2. I love the authentic rendition of the best of Italy served in Villa Danieli. Definitely true Italian flavour that perfects our hearty feasting here!
3. Recommended: Truffle pizza, wild mushroom soup
