Bmon Cafe @ The Strand, Kota Damansara

If you are young at heart or share the love for manga-style comic characters, then Bmon Café located at the vibrant commercial area of The Strand, Kota Damansara is definitely a must visit place!

Inspired by our favourite childhood cartoon, Doraemon, one of the cafe owners has created a new character called Bmon. His artwork is frequently shared on his Facebook page: www.facebook.com/BmonTuYaRiJi. Therefore, this cafe showcases all the hand-drawn masterpieces about the Bmon stories as well as its merchandises! 

You’d be fascinated by the artsy hand-drawn comic strips on the wall along the staircase leading up to the café as well as within the café itself. It is interesting to read about Bmon (a cute guy in the story), his girlfriend Mel and their pet elephant!

Welcome to the dreamland of Bmon ♥

Entering this cozy cafe is as good as reliving my childhood moments! It is enlivened by vibrant hues of seating, vintage decor and ample natural light shining into the warm, comfortable space.

I love the lively and vibrant ambiance that brightens up the gloomiest day! ♥

This little cozy cafe is further divided into 5 sections--- Library, dining hall, train station, tatami area, and outdoor balcony--- so that you can enjoy your coffee and meal under different themed settings.

It really feels like home here; Great for girly dates, gatherings and even parties and corporate events!

MENU

I really appreciate the little touches that this cafe has provided for the customers! Upon being seated, we are given a piece of hand-drawn beverage coaster each, with dedicated space to write down our feedback as customers! So cool right? 

The drinks menu is displayed by the bar counter. Double roasted beans here are sourced from Singapore's Coffee Nowhere Roaster, so do expect your coffee to taste less acidic and more balanced! 

The masterminds behind this cafe have creatively invented a wide array of flavoured coffee by injecting your daily dose of caffeine with unique ingredients such as syrups, caramel and even egg yolk! 

COFFEE

Almond Latte @ RM11

Latte here is not boring anymore as it is creatively added with almond syrup to exude sweet nutty aroma and balance away the acidity in the cup. For different twists of flavour, you may try butterscotch, green tea, caramel, soy or egg yolk with the latte! 

Ruby Mocha (Iced) @ RM15 / Espresso Panna @ RM9

If you're looking for a taste of raspberry fruits with coffee, you'll be surprised by the ruby mocha! Even the espresso here is toned down and becomes more acceptable by concocting almond syrup and whipped cream into double shot of espresso.

Non-coffee drinkers, Bmon hears what you want! There are wide assortments of flower teas
where you can mix and match your own set of flavours to gain various health benefits.

SAVOURY

Hippo In The Pond @ RM16.90

The No.1 favourite at Bmon Cafe is this soul-satisfying bowl of crispy crabstick, jumbo sausage, ham, chicken floss, egg and salad sitting on two huge potato croquettes. Despite of the high demand, the chef only prepares 5 to 8 servings daily to ensure its best quality. Hence, be sure to come early and grab it before it's gone! 

What makes the dish so special is the generous application of creamy cheesy sauce that coats every ingredient well. The cheese is surprisingly light and has beautiful garlicky aroma! Definitely a must try!

 Popeye Waffle @ RM16.90

Another standout at Bmon Cafe is the savoury waffle loaded with spinach that is worthy for breakfast, lunch or dinner! Crisp and fluffy, the waffle can be turned into a sandwich by topping it with turkey hams and bits of baked cheesy tomato. 

DESSERT

Banana Waffle @ RM15.90

Choices of sweet waffles are aplenty here, but it's the banana waffle that sells like hot cakes everyday. Beautifully presented with chunky banana, vanilla ice cream and banana sticks, the ultra crispy waffle tastes superb especially when it is swirled with caramel sauce.

If you're not a fan of banana, other waffles such as Oreo, apple, cheese and more are available too! 

Desserts are always not enough for me! Browsing through the cake display counter, I notice Bmon Cafe serves alot of mille crepe cakes (Bamboo Charcoal, Lemon Cheese, Black Forest, Mango, Chocolate Peanut Butter) as well as assorted cheesecakes (Marble Cheese, Blueberry Cheese, Mocha Cheese).

Blueberry Cheese @ RM10

Since the staff recommends Blueberry Cheese, the bestselling cake there, we order a slice for sharing. Honestly, it is pretty decent although I don't usually like my biscuit base to be soggy. Nevertheless, it has a soft texture on the sponge and cream layer without being too heavy for my liking.


Verdict:
1. A calm and cheerful spot to enjoy creative coffees and comforting waffles. I love this cafe as it is quieter than its neighbourhood coffee places.
2. Concept wise, it is interesting and well-executed. Every nook and corner of the cafe is so picture worthy! 
3. Recommended: Almond Latte, Hippo In The Pond, Popeye Waffle
