How often do you go for comfort American cuisine which may cost a bomb yet unable to promise a satisfying dining experience? Instead of paying so much for such dissatisfaction, why not experience a value-for-money meal at Super D, the classic 1950s American diner?
The concept here is pretty simple: It serves customers with real food, no frills. The menu focuses mainly on classic American style food freshly made to order, including burgers, hotdogs, pasta and steaks as well as Asian delights such as rice and noodles.
Set Menu - Iced Organic Super Berries Tea
Speaking of budget meal, I think Super D is the right place to go for. It offers really affordable set menu that comprises of one main course and bottomless soft drinks. Alternatively, you can opt for the house brewed super berries tea that gives a refreshing zing with a slice of lime in it.
Super Burger @ RM13
Although the beef burger looks ordinary from the picture, I'm satisfied that the bun is well-layered with thick patty, tomato, lettuce and onion, and tastes more flavourful when paired with melted American and Swiss cheeses.
Grilled Chicken @ RM13
If you're not a fan of burgers, how about having a hearty platter of grilled boneless chicken accompanied with coleslaw and mashed potatoes instead? Nice marinade, robust smoky flavour, tender juicy meat and generous portion of sidelines, what's more can I ask for?
At Super D, the menu is pretty flexible and you can mix and match a wide varieties of items. Simply spice up the basic cheesy macaroni with your fave toppings-- Fried fish, chicken cutlet, chilli beef, meatballs or chicken sausage. You name it, they have it!
Topped with 3 types of cheese, this is definitely a must-order item for cheesy lovers. Every spoonful is so gooey and I'm surprised that the lean, breaded chicken cutlet manages to retain its crispiness on the skin. Definitely a classic comfort food!
Brownie with Ice Cream @ RM6
The brownie here is loaded with chunks of almonds, and not cloying at all. Despite of its crispy texture, it is actually quite dense on the palate, therefore sharing is recommended.
Verdict:
1. If you're looking for some comfort American cuisine that eases your pocket, Super D is probably one of the few family-friendly places in town that meet my expectation in terms of ambiance, price and service.
2. Lots of western varieties that please the diners with generous portion. Taste wise, it is fair and comforting.
3. Everything on the menu is below RM20. Great place to dine when your wallet is tight!
