Frisson Coffee Bar has always been my favourite place for real good pasta. Just after a month of my recent visit, now I am back for more goodies on its newly launched brunch and dessert pancake menu.
FRISSON BRUNCH
P.TripleB French Toast @ RM18.90
Being a bread person, it is certainly a good thing to hear that Frisson has finally added tummy-comforting French toast into its menu. This stack of peanut butter and bacon goodness is certainly to die for!
Thick slices of brioche dipped in rich vanilla custard is soft and lightly sweet on its own, with an aromatic hint of cinnamon. The overall taste is further enhanced by creamy peanut butter, banana and bacon (replaceable with chicken ham, if you don't take beef). And finally you may enjoy an added sweetness from beautiful drizzles of honey.
Healthy goers should look out for the homemade granola served with yogurt, fruits and a side of salad. Sitting in the bowl is a fibre-packed concoction imported from Australia-- Sliced almonds, pepita seeds, linseed fibre and poppy seed puffs.
Enjoying a splash of milky yogurt with the wonderful crunch of granola is perfect for a hearty breakfast, or as a healthy snack to kill the hunger pangs during mid-day.
Chicken and Mushroom Pie @ RM27
An extension to the brunch menu, the cafe also features homemade Frisson Pies and Quiche which are available on Fridays and Saturdays. Pastry lovers will appreciate the heavy application of butter, lending the pastry a wonderful aroma. It is moist yet flaky enough to enhance the richness of the crisp-edged pastry that gives a decadent mouth-feel.
Between a choice of rib eye steak pie and chicken pie, I prefer the latter as nothing beats the satisfaction of having classic pie like this one. Considering the sizeable portion and loads of quality chicken chunks in creamy mushroom gravy, it can easily fill my stomach to the brim!
Nutty Nutella Pancake @ RM18.90
Don't you agree that there's always room for dessert even after a heavy meal, especially when the new Frisson Pancake looks so irresistibly good? It is a stack of 4 layers of homemade pancakes swirled with nutella and dark chocolate sauce, then topped with a scoop of Australian vanilla ice cream, fresh strawberries, and sprinkles of mixed nuts.
Nutella lovers will definitely love this, as every mouthful of the slightly dense pancake is punch-packed with creamy nutella. I love how well it is executed to achieve a good balance of sweetness and refreshing flavours from the fruit and mint leaves.
Verdict:
1. Overall, the brunch items are just as good as its signature pasta. Definitely worth checking out!
2. Frisson's creativity in crafting the French toast, pies and pancakes always give me pleasant surprises that satisfy my tummy.
