[TRAVEL] Review: Family-friendly Beachside Residence at Desaru, Johor

A 3 days 2 nights trip down to the south sounds like a perfect weekend getaway! Recently I spent my long weekend at Desaru, a coastal town in Johor surrounded by beautiful beach frontline, where I discovered lots of interesting activities suitable for families and friends.

After my previous vacation at Desaru in year 2012, I had very fond memories of this place and always wanted to come back to explore more. During this trip, we visited the local fruit farm, crocodile farm, ostrich farm, golf club, water theme park and more. Will share more with you guys in the next blog post!

Since there are more than 10 of us, we opt for family-style apartments as they are more economical and convenient for us, as compared to the conventional hotel rooms.

Among the many options available in Desaru, Tiara Desaru Seaview Residence is probably one of the newest apartments with its own stretch of private beach overlooking the South China Sea, that you gotta check out for.

To date, it is the only beachside condominium available for sale in this area, meaning that you can buy a unit for personal enjoyment, rent/Airbnb, investment etc.

The 500 units of apartment rooms are fully furnished and ready for tenants. With the current rapid development in Desaru, it will be just 5 minutes away from 2 international theme parks, 2 world class golf course and 4 five-star hotels.

Tiara feels like a home away from home! Entering the residence, we are greeted by the friendly staff who brings us to our apartment. Each unit is roughly 600 to 800 square feet in size-- Spacious and comfortable for a group of 4 - 6.

Mine is a 1-room apartment with large living hall, pantry with water facilities and fridge, 2 bathrooms with shower, and balcony.

Equipped with TV and L-shaped sofa, the living room is just nice for our late night party where we gather, enjoy snack and chat throughout the evening.

As for the bedroom, I'm surprised that the space can actually fit at least 2 queen-sized beds although we only have 1 there. Wardrobe, make-up table and LCD TV (Yes, another one in the room) are amongst the furnishings in the minimalist room.

The best part of the residence is definitely its swimming pool-- Not 1, but 4! Out of the four, 2 of them are located at the main garden area, with a dolphin link bridge. Suitable for families and kids bonding activities.

The other 2 are located between the blocks of residence, where we can see from the balcony of our room-- A rectangular pool surrounded by lush greenery. The size is just nice for a sprint in the water. I really love the privacy we enjoy here as we can occupy the entire pool ourselves, without worrying about disturbing others. And of course, do all the silly things we want without worrying that someone is looking at us :P

The next best part is probably the beach! Sandy beach, calm sea, soft waves, and most importantly, beautiful sunrise make up for a paradise for the sea lovers. As it is a non-island beach, the sea seems relatively calmer but may not be suitable for swimming as we see plenty of jellyfish in the water!

If you are lucky, you'd be able to catch the beautiful sunrise.

Totally worth sacrificing the sleep for this scenic moment!

The residence is also equipped with "barbecue pits" for you to grill your own food while enjoying the lovely views. Would love to try it with a bunch of friends during my next visit! 

 
Verdict: 

1. Overall, this place is very suitable for families, especially if you wanna bring your young kids for holiday. .

2. Good location. Tiara Desaru Seaview Residence is only 45 minutes drive from Senai International Airport and JB City. Near to town area, and other tourist attractions.

3. Large, private swimming pools, plus the clean and quiet beach area is an added advantage here.
