[TRAVEL] 2D1N Romantic Getaway at Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson

How to maximise your long weekend / holiday? GO TRAVELLING!

When a Public Holiday falls on a Monday, I am on cloud nine, because I hear Port Dickson calling me for a vacation! Whether you are coming from the North (Penang) or South (Singapore), Port Dickson is actually a great place to chill, considering its strategic location.

As for me, I don’t really wanna go too far from KL, but at the same time wish to have a tranquil getaway, away from the city. So I book a villa at Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson and spend my long weekend there.

I did not realise (until I reach Port Dickson) that Lexis Hibiscus is actually located slightly further away from the Port Dickson town area. If you are familiar, PD Waterfront and other attractions such as the public beaches and Tanjung Tuan lighthouse are 30 minutes drive away from Lexis Hibiscus.

How to get there:
By Road:
1.5 hour drive from Kuala Lumpur, or 3.5 hours drive from Singapore.
By Air:
Take a flight to KLIA then 1-hour airport transfer to Lexis Hibiscus.

Location wise, although it is slightly far from town, it offers better privacy and tranquility where I can just dip ourselves into the pool, relax and do absolutely nothing throughout the day.

Lexis Hibiscus emerges like a scenic launch pad into the sparkling blue waters of Port Dickson. Interestingly, with over 500 villas “floating” on the water, the arrangement appears to resemble the shape of a hibiscus where the villas literally form the “petal” and “stigma” of the flower.

My room is located at one of the red-coloured petals, facing the sea.

The accommodation is largely divided into 4 types:
❤ Executive Pool Villas (Not recommended as it is closer to the shore and lacks of sea view),
❤ Premium Pool Villas (The one I stay),
❤ Panorama Pool Villas (Guaranteed sea view from the room),
❤ And different classes of Suites (Located at the tip of the hibiscus stigma)

For better privacy and excellent sea view, the Panorama Pool Villa will be a better option.

The aerial view of Lexis Hibiscus clearly shows the shape of a hibiscus.
Now you know where did the name arise from.

Lexis Hibiscus Check-in Time: 4pm
Check-out Time: 12noon
*Late check-out is allowed up to 1pm;
Anytime beyond that would be charged RM200.

Arriving at Lexis Hibiscus around 4pm, the timing is just perfect for check-in. Although it is the eve of a Public Holiday, the check-in process is pretty fast and immediately we are transported to our room via a buggy ride.

Save the walking time; let's hop onto a buggy!

Well, strolling along the walkways connecting the villas is nice, but not on a hot, sunny day. Along our way to the Premium Pool Villa, we see plenty of generous exterior spaces where you can enjoy cycling, skating and skateboarding.

Welcome to our Premium Pool Villa!

So we are finally here in our crib of the day. The bedroom, on its own, is pretty decent. If space is your main concern, this is the right place to go.

The view outside our room is spectacular!
Featuring a spacious 81 square metre interior, the room has 2 king beds which can easily fit 4 persons. Next to each bed, there is a couch/daybed for you to just chill or put your stuff at.

Of course, the basic amenities in the room are complete – Flat-screen TV on the wall, mini fridge, welcome snack, tea making facilities, working desk, safe, strong Wi-Fi connection, etc.

And guess what I found in the drawer, TWG English Breakfast Tea and Green Tea bags! Definitely a great companion for our afternoon tea.

Beyond the door of our bedroom is the bath and pool area which is facing the sea!

This is where the spacious wardrobe (complete with iron, board, umbrella, sleeping robes, slippers, towels etc) is located. Right opposite the wardrobe, we see the washroom, shower and basin area.

Sadly, there is no in-room bathtub.
The most interesting part is, there is a glass panel on the floor to view the marine life below! But to be honest, don’t expect to see anything other than cloudy water. You don’t want to be reminded that you are not at some paradise island, do you? Haha…

Oh ya, I almost forget to mention that this part of the room is accentuated with a full, clear floor-to-ceiling glass window, giving a panoramic view of the in-room pool and infinity blue water of the sea.

Finally…here comes the most exciting part: THE POOL!

In case you are wondering, the water villas at Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson stretches out to more than 1km from the beach to the furthest view at the sea. Therefore, it is important to get a nice room location that faces the sea directly, and not facing other villa.

As the Premium Pool Villa I stay is located in the hibiscus petal area, our view may not be as great as those staying in Panorama Pool Villa which faces the sea directly without any obstruction.

Nevertheless, it looks pretty good in pictures so I have no complaints at all.

At the balcony area, there is a 1.2 metre in-room pool for greater privacy and better enjoyment. Seriously, dipping in the pool at late nights or early in the mornings just can’t be more enjoyable than this!

Plus, a pool party of 4-6 persons would make this a perfect getaway if you love pool parties! A bottle of wine or champagne will definitely be great for such peaceful atmosphere.

Approaching evening, we are just too hooked on swimming in our private dip pool until we almost forget it’s time for dinner! If you are lazy to drive out (as most dining restaurants are located 30 minutes drive away), 24-hour in-room dining is available. I’d suggest you to just stay in and be surrounded within the comfort and privacy of the villa.

Also at the balcony area, there is a private sauna room (which I forget to take picture of!). Well, you should check it out yourself ya.

As much as I enjoy the quality modern interiors and private dip pools, I guess it’s good to explore around Lexis Hibiscus as it has other outdoor facilities and amenities such as adult landscaped pool, children pool, gym, steam and sauna rooms, beach volleyball, archery, teambuilding, diving lessons, gazevo, water sports, water taxi, heliport and Hibiscus Walk (where food stalls are located at).

Since it is just a short weekend escapade, I spend most of my time in the villa. However, if you are keen, Lexis Hibiscus offers local tour, coral discovery tour services and free shuttle service to PD Waterfront for guests too.

Some say that the romantic sunset and breathtaking night view here are not bad, but well, I mean it is considered good enough for a location not too far from home.

On the next morning, we go for breakfast after a morning pool dip. We have a very basic Western buffet breakfast at Roselle Coffee House before we bid goodbye to this lovely place.

My verdict:
Although it is a short stay, Lexis Hibiscus is an ideal hideout for those who want to escape from the hustles and bustles of the city. Great location for honeymoons, pool parties, and any special occasions without burning a hole in the wallet.

  1. On our visit to this place, we mostly stayed downstairs, where the beer and liquor selection was quite admirable. The staff at Chicago event space here really pride themselves on the beers and food they have.
