Hi guys! I am back with another travelogue-- about my recent trip to Langkawi in conjunction to the Langkawi International Laksa Carnival (LILAC) 2016 which I have blogged HERE. Our 3-days-2-nights there were not just about having laksa, but we also managed to try out different types of good food in the island.
1. Jom Ikan Bakar, Jalan Padang Matsirat, Langkawi
Catering is available; Contact: 012-5075173 / 013-5129931 / 012-5119931
If you see smokes puffing in the air by the roadside with a salivating aroma, it’s time to stop by and give the growling tummy a nice treat. The local vendor here skillfully grills the fish, squid, prawns and chicken by the roadside, and the aroma is so irresistible!
The fish? Delicious moist flesh, sweet and smoky in flavour. Coupled with steaming hot rice, and ulam-ulaman with cencaluk dipping sauce, it’s simply a perfect meal to go for.
Verdict: It is one of the cheapest street eats in the island. Got you covered with good seafood and affordable economic rice!
2. Orkid Ria Seafood Restaurant, Pantai Cenang, Langkawi

Location: 5th floor, above Royal Agate Beach Resort, 1659, Jalan Pantai Cenang
(Across the street from Sandy Beach Resort, 150m from Cenang Plaza)
Business Hours: 12noon-3pm , 6pm-11pm daily
No doubt Langkawi has the freshest catch everyday and therefore...rejoice, seafood lovers! Orkid Ria, a Chinese-owned seafood restaurant has gained much popularity among the tourists for its huge and fresh seafood, prepared in various Chinese styles.(Across the street from Sandy Beach Resort, 150m from Cenang Plaza)
Business Hours: 12noon-3pm , 6pm-11pm daily
Among all the dishes we have, my personal favourite goes to the Oyster Omelette with extra portion of melting good oysters in the gooey pan-fried eggs. The steamed fish and seafood tom yam, on the other hand, are also noteworthy for the super juicy flesh and natural oceanic sweetness.
Verdict: Recommended as a value-for-money seafood meal in Langkawi! But be early, to avoid long queues / disappointment.
3. Nest Rooftop Café, Pantai Cenang, Langkawi

Business Hours: 7am-11am, 6pm - 9.30pm daily
If you are not a fan of seafood, how about some Western delights amidst a beautiful setting with the island skyline view? Honestly this is the first time I heard that Langkawi has a rooftop bar, and I really love the fact that every nook and corner of the rooftop area is well-adorned with tiny, bright bulbs and different types of couches for diners.
I am totally blown by the magnificent sunset view at this rooftop bar!
The menu? Try the Signature Mocktails! As for the food, it ranges from RM8 to RM38.
Honestly, the food is just okay, considering that the Western fare is pretty standard here. But the sizeable portion here is great for sharing. The sharing platters such as nacho chips and chicken wings are amongst the best picks to keep our streams of laughters and conversations going.
Verdict: Overall, it is a lovely place to spend a relaxing evening while sipping on mocktails and enjoying the lively music.
4. The Cliff Restaurant & Bar, Pantai Cenang, Langkawi
Location: Lot 63 and 40, Jalan Pantai Cenang
Business Hours: 12noon-11pm daily
For a more exquisite experience of dining by the beach, The Cliff is a fantastic spot to enjoy both sea and beach view from a different angle. Built on the perfect spot where white sandy beach meets the clear blue water, The Cliff dazzles the senses with its ingenious contemporary design, charming views and beautiful ambiance – picturesque during the day, stunning at sunset, magnificent at night!
Located at the end of Pantai Cenang on the west coast of Langkawi, this is the island’s trendiest dining and drinking spot. The restaurant even has a separate bar area where you can customize your cocktail or sip on a glass of beer, wine, champagne and more.
The menu boasts a wide variety of Asian fusion dishes, prices slightly higher but it's all worth it for the guaranteed quality. What not to be missed is the Asian-spiced Marinated Boneless Chicken Chop served with Mild Spicy Percik Sauce, Sambal Coleh and Acar Jelatah. It is grilled fresh at the live cooking stall, priced at RM45 per portion onwards.
Verdict: Good to visit if you have extra cash to spare, and ideal for candlelight dinners, celebrations and special occasions. Don’t forget to pair the signature grilled items with wine!
Great recommendations! Thank you for sharing! Beautiful views & delicious food! json formatter
