Hello, Penang! I'm really excited for my Penang trip this round - well, I enjoy food hunting in Penang occasionally, but what excites me during this trip is the very first Jazz-themed hotel I'm staying ❤

Jazz Hotel Penang, a relatively new hotel located around Straits Quay / Gurney Drive area, is Penang's first ever themed hotel - and it is totally for you, Jazz music lovers! True to its name, Jazz Hotel honours the Jazz Age (1920s to 1930s) and I fall in love with the soulful, artistic Jazz-inspired interior almost instantly. It is one of the best hotel deals I see in Penang so far.

HOTEL ROOM - DELUXE KING

So I spend a relaxing 3 days 2 nights here in a Deluxe Room (King), which is the most basic type of room yet it is so spacious and elegantly furnished with luxurious touch.

If you appreciate bigger room (for instance, more space for your kids to play around), you may opt for the Premier Room (48 sqm), Executive Suite (80 sqm) and finally the grandest Jazz Suite (100 sqm) which comes with kitchenette and living hall.

JAZZ FEAST RESTAURANT

Level 2

Business Hours: 6.30am - 11pm daily

Jazz Hotel takes a fresh bold approach to dining experiences with 3 themed outlets, each completed with charming good old Southern hospitality. Our buffet breakfast (included in our room package) is served at this all-day dining restaurant.

Speaking of the buffet spread, this is one of the most complete breakfast buffet bar I have tried! Think of local fried noodles and roti canai, classic Western breakfast platter as well as the fresh bread, fruits, yoghurt, and a live cooking station for warm omelettes -- Jazz Feast Restaurant has gotten them all covered.

The lunch and dinner menu there is a fair mix of New Orleans cuisine for international flavours and local favourites which give a taste closer to home.

INFINITY POOL

Level 30

Operating Hours: 7am - 9pm daily

(Pool Bar: 11am - 7pm daily)

While others are eager to explore the Penang Island, we decide to chill in the hotel and enjoy the facilities instead. An early evening swim is just perfect to complete our relaxing stay.

ROOFTOP GYMNASIUM

Level 30

I know it is difficult to not gain weight while being in Penang food heaven, but you can always sweat it out at the hotel's sky gym, located right next to the pool bar.

KITANO JAPANESE RESTAURANT

Lobby Level

Business Hours: 11am - 2.30pm, 6pm - 10pm daily

Approaching evening, we are too lazy to go out and have opted for a Japanese dinner in Kitano, the in-house Japanese food specialist which is tastefully designed into a contemporary Japanese tea house.

Can you feel the strong Japanese vibes from the private rooms and beautiful table decors?

Using only the freshest raw saltwater fish and premium ingredients, it features a full-fledged Japanese menu which entices our tastebuds so we try some of the signature items here including the 'volcanic' ramen...

Torikotsu Kazan Ramen @ RM32

This is highly recommended! We enjoy seeing our ramen being served in a hot stone bowl, then the waitstaff pours the creamy spicy broth over the noodles and it literally erupts like a volcano. The best part? It is punch packed with flavours and remains warm throughout the meal. Delicious and tummy comforting!

"STRINGS & SAX" LOUNGE BAR

Level 29

Business Hours: 6pm - 1am daily

After dinner, more exciting things are happening at Strings & Sax, the hotel's very own Jazz lounge bar where we can enjoy an ear-feast of sounds, swinging blues from the city's finest Jazz musicians.

Unquestionably cool, it is probably the swankiest bar I have been to in Penang so far and the interior definitely reminds me of The Greatest Showman. Drop by and immerse in a company with a bottle or two, tip back some spiffy cocktails or beers, and just chill out!

BUSINESS CENTRE / FUNCTION HALLS

Jazz Hotel is beyond leisure and play; It has two whole floors (Level 8 and 9) of indoor event halls and outdoor areas for your next event, be it business or leisure rooms. Interestingly, I note that the super cool, techy Business Centres here are named after the world's renowned Jazz players such as Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra etc.

Each room is well-equipped with all you need for meetings, events, etc but if you have special requests, the team in Jazz Hotel is committed to provide their best assistance.

OVERALL VERDICT

1. Overall, Jazz Hotel is a beautiful replica of prestigious Jazz Club inside out. You just can't miss the Instagram-worthy spots in this hotel.

2. Interior aside, thanks to the pleasant stay, I am happy to be able to rest, relax and enjoy all the food, entertainment and activities under one roof.

3. Revisit? Yes! Great value for money, excellent cleanliness, awesome services and facilities.
