Barbecues can be a whole lot of fun for pretty much all ages. Inviting your loved ones over on the weekend is always a great way to get together, catch up, enjoy a chill night, with awesome food.
Everyone loves a great barbecue, but when you’re the host, it needs a bit of preparation to ensure the event will be a great success. Here are a few tips on how to host an awesome weekend barbecue:
1. Use an offset smoker
While there are many things people will argue about how to get the best results while barbecuing, using an offset smoker won’t be one of them. If you’re a fan of slow-cooked meat, one of the best offset smoker features is that it provides tender results without drying the meat out. That way you’ll have a whole lot of food as it allows large amounts at a time, cooked to perfection without it being overcooked. The only aspect to take into consideration is that you’ll have to take turns always turning the meat over and changing the water as offset smokers require more labour intensive barbecuing.
2. Make an awesome playlist
Music has the power to instate the mood you’re looking for. If you want people to have a good time, get up and dance in your backyard, all you have to do is add the kind of music that will make it difficult for your guests to stand still. Prepare a playlist with background music, dance music and oldies that everyone will enjoy and you’ll find the general mood to be light and cheery thanks to the music.
3. Make sure you have enough food
Make sure you’ve got the correct headcount of who’ll be attending and prepare a little extra just in case, so you don’t leave your guests hungry. It’s always a great idea to prepare salads, chips, and some finger food that your guests can help themselves while they wait for the barbecue to be prepared and also fill them up a little.
4. Keep it cool
You can’t have an outdoor barbecue, without bringing out refreshments to keep everyone hydrated and cool. Whether you’re serving punch or beer, you’ll need to make sure you’re quenching everyone’s thirst and add to their good mood, by always have the ice supply ready or you can even keep the beers in an icebox so it’s nice and cold.
5. Decorate your backyard
You don’t have to go overboard, but adding stringed light bulbs or lanterns around the yard, will make it sparkly and add a whole lot more hospitality. It will also be great for when the sun sets, to have that little extra light to keep the guests feeling comfortable and add a magical touch.
With these tips, you’re bound to have an awesome barbecue party and ensure that your guests have a great time. As long as you’re prepared in advance, music, great company and well-cooked food combined make for a fantastic event and you’ll be dubbed the host of the season.
